Grey Summer

Today my sister wanted my help to boost her wardrobe and make her a bit more stylish. I knew the types of things that would work perfectly for her and when I picked them out for her at the store, she hated them. Heres the thing though, they were basics. I pulled out a crochet cardigan (similar to the one I am obsessed with) and she made the most disgusted face I've ever seen. Then I pulled out a basic black and white striped skater style dress and she said it was ugly....I think she's a lost cause.
While her style venture was less than successful, I really liked what I wore today. I haven't put this boxy tee on in awhile and this cheetah print purse was begging to be worn outside, so I threw them on! Super basic and simple, but I loved it anyways! Until my next post, Elyse.

Back to Basics

My weekends have become days to  lay around and wait for my shift at work to begin. Since I didn't start until the evening I asked my mom if we could do something today. I really just wanted to go thrifting, but I left it open for interpretation so that way she'd be happier doing what she wanted than what I wanted. So we went and checked out a little shopping center we've never been to and I got a couple of really cute things that I'm sure I'll style very soon.
This is the outfit I shopped in. I've been very into basics lately so I thought I'd pair this tank shorts that I've never worn before with the crochet cardigan I'm currently living in. I just love how slouchy and comfy it is!

Crochet Cardigan: Eco-thrift, $4
Black Tank: Eco-thrift, $1
High-Waisted Shorts: Superior Thrift, $4
Blue Sneakers: Vans, $35
Red Bag: F21, $15
John Lennon Sunnies: HM, $9

p.s. I'm working on a better background for pictures. I wish I just had a photographer boyfriend or best friend to take pictures of me, but until then its just me, my tripod, and my camera on self-timer.

Tie-dye Mess

I went to the Farmer's Market this morning with my mom and got tons of fruits and veggies (my favorite), and even brought home some lumpia, mmm. It was a tad hot for me to wear this, but I did it anyway. I was only outside for a short time.
One of the things I've been trying to do lately is wear things I've never worn or rarely wear. I have this habit of sticking to the pieces that I love, which isn't a bad thing, but I need to get more use out of my other things. I got this shirt for Christmas from my friend and this is the very first time ever worn it. Collared shirts just never seem casual enough me. Until my next post, Elyse.

Studded Button-down: F21, gift
DIY Tie-dye Shorts: Thrifted, $6
Sandals: JcPenneys, $7
Rings: Vintage, Gifted, JcPenneys, Street Booth
Gold/Silver Rock Necklace: HM, $4

P.S. Sorry for the mess, I wanted to have a different background and I kind of liked the way this looked.

Cravings

Below is a little selection of some items that I've been lusting over as of late. One of which I actually bought for myself the other day hehe.
1. Strappy Heels: These shoes have been all over the internet and its completely understandable why. They're sleek, timeless, and the perfect addition to an outfit. I've really been noticing how much shoes can change an outfit and these are just the apple of my eye right now. I rarely wear heels though so its not a smart buy.

2. Boyfriend Jeans: I love how slouchy and casual these look! Paired with strappy heels and a camisole...perfection.

3: Simple White Dress: My tan has been coming along nicely and I feel like I now need a white dress to compliment it. Something simple like this would be so versatile to layer with and wear all year long.

4. Flower Crown: My friends call me the flower child and as time goes on the more I feel the name really suits me. Flower crowns are everywhere and I feel a bit overdone at times, but I can't help from lusting for one of my very own!

5. Thigh-High Boots: This is the item I recently bought for myself, not these ones specifically but similar ones. I came across a picture of Vanessa Hudgens with thigh high boots, knee highs, and a cute little dress and I just fell head over heels in love. I think they're a very versatile statement shoe and I'm happy I found a wonderful pair for only $40.

6. Wedge Sneakers: When these first came about, I thought they were hideous until I saw the Isabel Marant ones on Sincerely Jules and I understood the obsession. Recently I've been seeing these Target ones around and I think they're a gorgeous dupe. While they are only $35, I'm still too hesitant to spend my money on them.

I'm also craving a pair of Birkenstocks but I'm so on and off with them I don't know what to do with myself. Until my next post, Elyse.

Maxi Time.

Happy Sunday everyone! I started my morning off with an omelet alongside my best friends at 8:30 am, we really love each other. After breakfast a couple of us drove around and decided to call into the radio station to win some Alicia Keys tickets. I called and called and finally it went through. The guy answered and said, "Caller 105!" I responded with a very calm okay, not knowing what number you have to be win. I asked my friend Chris and he said 106. Next thing I know my friend in the back seat, Christina, is saying, "You guys I won! I won!". Chris and I couldn't believe it. Especially me. One call off. Oh well!

So here is today's outfit. I like it but its nothing super stylish. This skirt was a really great find though! Until my next post, Elyse.

Black Cropped Sweater: H&M, $10
Floral Maxi Skirt: F21, $5

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrate it. Mine was pretty chill just had some family friends over for a Thanksgiving "Linner" since my mom had to work at night. Anyways, here is what I wore. I just thought I'd show it since I haven't posted an outfit in awhile. Nothing super exciting, but its dressier than what I normally wear. I was happy to finally wear the camo shirt I thrifted and I think the necklace made the whole outfit look nicer. Until my next post, Elyse.

Old Navy Camoflauge T-shirt: Savers, $2
J.Crew Khaki Skirt: Plato's Closet, $10
Black Chelsea boots: Target, $9
Brown fuzzy Jacket: Savers, $6
Gold necklace: H&M, $13

pants party!

I have been obsessed with pants lately. I don't know what it is, but all I want to do is buy pants, shoes, and more pants! I've found picking pants first and then a top and shoes to go with it for my outfits in the morning! It might not seem odd to you, but it definitely does to me.
I already own a pair of oxblood pants, forest green pants, floral pants, black pants, regular jeans, grey pants, and army green cargo pants. But here's my dilemma. My oxblood and forest green pants are very ill-fitting, and neither pair were dirt cheap. I just hate the fact that when you try something on in the fitting room it can fit perfectly and then once you take off the tags and wear them out and about, they're terrible! So because the fit is anything but desirable, I want new pairs. I think I might go to forever 21 and find cheaper versions to make myself not feel so bad and still get a couple wears out of the ill-fitting ones before trying to re-sell them to crossroads or plato's closet. My other problem is that pants do not come cheap. I want a lot of pants, but my wallet does not have the money to buy them all. Sure, I could get lucky and find some at the thrift store, but I want them now. I guess I just have to be patient to be stylish. Until my next post, Elyse.

change.

For the past month or even more I've found myself in a style slump. I don't like anything in my closet and I've been having a hard time putting together outfits that I love. So, I've come to the conclusion that I need to change my wardrobe a little bit. I have been trying to have a messy thrown together boho/grungy type of look and I just can't seem to do it. So instead, I'm opting for a more simple style of clothing with interesting silhouettes paired with more daring accessories. I can still keep my personal style but be more put together. Until my next post, Elyse.

FUTURE STYLE HOPES:

senior ball.

On June 2, 2012 I went to my Senior Ball, or prom. My sister did my makeup and I did my hair. Senior ball was held at The Academy of Sciences in SF and it was really cool to walk around and look at all of the exhibits. That was probably my favorite part. I don't have a very good picture of my make-up but I have a very slightly winged black liner, subtle fake lashes, and red-orange lipstick. Here are just a few pictures from the night:
