Tie-dye Mess

I went to the Farmer's Market this morning with my mom and got tons of fruits and veggies (my favorite), and even brought home some lumpia, mmm. It was a tad hot for me to wear this, but I did it anyway. I was only outside for a short time.
One of the things I've been trying to do lately is wear things I've never worn or rarely wear. I have this habit of sticking to the pieces that I love, which isn't a bad thing, but I need to get more use out of my other things. I got this shirt for Christmas from my friend and this is the very first time ever worn it. Collared shirts just never seem casual enough me. Until my next post, Elyse.

P.S. Sorry for the mess, I wanted to have a different background and I kind of liked the way this looked.

Thrifted Looks

Guess who got a camera charger...this girl :) Finally I will have actual blog posts up. Its about damn time. I've been on summer break for two weeks now and I just decided that I'm dedicating my summer to my blog. I haven't found a job (after literally 25 applications), I don't have my driver's license, and I live 45 minutes from every single one of my friends. So that means I'll have a lot of free time and I want to use it here. That being said, can someone tell me how to get a good theme? I'm so clueless.
If I could do anything for the rest of my life, it would be thrifting. I love searching through the racks of clothes for the gems that are just waiting to be found. Below I've styled three fully thrifted outfits (except only one pair of shoes is thrifted, its hard to find size 9.5).

THE TWO-PIECE
I like how this outfit goes along with the "two-piece" trend but since the two shades of purple are different and the kimono has a print, its a bit more wearable.
Kimono: Superior Thrift, $5
Crochet Crop Top: Savers, $4
Purple High-Waisted Shorts: Eco-Thrift, $3

BE BASIC
A lot of people go to the thrift store to find unique pieces to fit in with their wardrobe, but the thrift store is a great place to find basics for super cheap.
Grey T-shirt: Savers, $4
Green Gap Jeans: Superior Thrift, $6
Woven Loafers: Discovery Thrift, $2
Crochet Crossbody: Garage Sale, $1

MOM JEANS
Not everything you find will be in wearable condition. Alterations might need to be made, but remember that when you thrift! These jeans were straight leg and I took them in to make them skinny.
Tie-dye Crop Top: Eco-thrift, $1
High-Waisted Jeans: Random Thrift Store, $.50
Brown Cross-body: Salvation Army, $3
Until my next post, Elyse.

Spring is in the air.

It's been Spring for about three weeks now, but only now can I say that the sunshine streams through my window in the morning. It's still not quite warm enough to rock these outfits, but they both have some Spring essentials in my opinion.
  • Floral print anything seems to have been a spring essential for years, but I'm obsessed with a daisy floral print. This most likely comes from the fact that its my favorite flower, but I still don't own anything daisy print!
  • A bright lip is good for any time of year, but this Spring I am going to be more bold and rock one more often.
  • A well fitting t-shirt is a must have in anyones closet, but a colored one is perfect for Spring!
  • High-waisted denim. It seems like everyone and their mother owns a pair, but I don't. Although I have become a little "over" the high-waisted shorts trend, I'd still like to own one pair.
  • Everyone needs a little pastel in their life whether it be in a collared shirt or a sandal. The best accessory for spring, is something pastel.
  • Finally, a platform cognac brown sandal. I am happy to say I finally own a pair of shoes similar to these, but being 5'9 who knows how often I'll rock those 5 inch bad boys...

Until my next post, Elyse.

Sons of Anarchy.

ITS SPRING BREAK! I'm so happy to not have any responsibilities this week, but its already half way done, tear. Unfortunately, while my parents moved houses my camera's charger got lost. The camera actually died as I was taking a picture for this post. So this will be my only real outfit post for awhile. I'm so saddened by that statement, but then I remember I'm going to Disneyland with my 5 best friends this weekend. Onto today's outfit.
I received this awesome Sons of Anarchy Tee for my birthday over the weekend and it fits me exactly how a t-shirt should. I literally have a weakness for perfectly fitting tees. Anyways, I paired it with my new black skirt and I loved how simple yet flattering it was. To keep it from being too "Gemma" I paired it with a pink kimono, gold accessories, and nude sandals. I miss Opie. Until my next post, Elyse.

Gold Necklace: F21, $5

Floral Pants.

Here is an actual OOTD post, only a month after the last one! I went home this past weekend since I had four days off. My parents moved from our house of eleven years to this new abode forty-five minutes from my hometown. Its kind of weird to think that I no longer will be where I grew up, but I'm always up for a new adventure!

I've really been going towards plain outfits lately, I have no clue why. I can't really decide if I like it or not either. But anyways, here is my outfit for a day of unpacking and relaxing. Have wonderful rest of your week! Until my next post, Elyse.

Grey Gap Jacket: Eco-thrift, $4
Navy top: Urban Outfitters, stolen from sister

Maxi Time.

Happy Sunday everyone! I started my morning off with an omelet alongside my best friends at 8:30 am, we really love each other. After breakfast a couple of us drove around and decided to call into the radio station to win some Alicia Keys tickets. I called and called and finally it went through. The guy answered and said, "Caller 105!" I responded with a very calm okay, not knowing what number you have to be win. I asked my friend Chris and he said 106. Next thing I know my friend in the back seat, Christina, is saying, "You guys I won! I won!". Chris and I couldn't believe it. Especially me. One call off. Oh well!

So here is today's outfit. I like it but its nothing super stylish. This skirt was a really great find though! Until my next post, Elyse.

Black Cropped Sweater: H&M, $10
Floral Maxi Skirt: F21, $5
Nude Sandals: JcPenney, $7

desires #1

Due to the fact that I've restrained myself from spending any money (the least amount possible) until I start my job I've decided to make a list of the things I really want. Hopefully this will help me to restrain myself from buying anything that isn't these things. Just thought I'd share with you all.

First off are the shoes. My number one right now are a new pair of black sandals. I've had mine for four or five years now and they're beat up and I think slightly out of style. These steve madden ones would be ideal but I have yet to find them discounted anywhere. I found a pair at Kohl's that were perfect and really well priced but of course there were none in my size at the two Kohl's I went to. I hate having 9.5/10 size feet.
Next up are some black high-tops. In elementary and middle school I lived in high-top converse. That is what I was known for and I even had myself a pair of neon orange ones. I do still have a pair of black ones but they are completely torn on one side and have drawings on the toes. I would love to rock some with denim shorts or a girly dress. A pair of black vans would give me the same effect but I would prefer the converse.
Studded loafers are something I saw when they first came out in Topshop and I really liked them. I never really wanted them until about a month ago when I saw them in the stores I shop in. Forever 21 has them on their website but unfortunately the Forever 21 I go to never has a good selection of shoes and my foot sizing is too weird so I can't buy online.
My most recent desire is a pair of black ankle boots. I've never really been a fan of chelsea boots but I saw a pair in Target the other day and I decided I would love to have a pair. But I'm not too sure how they would look on my feet so I'll have to try them on and find out.
Finally, a pair of simple black flats. I've been looking for a pair of plain jane matte black flats but have had absolutely no luck in finding any. All the ones I see have little bows on the toes, have glitter all over, or are extremely uncomfortable. I find them to be the absolutely perfect shoe to wear with a pair of cuffed black jeans to give the outfit a touch of femininity.

I think I love black shoes. Until my next post, Elyse.

high-waisted and urban.

Last week I bought these high waisted ankle cropped jeans from Forever 21 and I am so happy I did. I went online to order them in the normal denim wash but they were already sold out. Bummer. A couple days ago I wore this to go shopping in berkeley and I was quite happy with my outfit. It is quite boring, but I was feeling pretty bold wearing the pants so I didn't want anything else to be bold. Anyways, I threw in what I bought in Berkeley at the end of this post. Until my next post, Elyse.
